About The Event

CORE personal development classes

ONLY FOR CPS STUDENTS OF THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-2021

CORE shall be open for other students soon.

Dear Parents, keeping in mind that the students already have online lectures, we are glad to announce that the CORE training this year will be entertaining. The lessons will be given in the form of entertaining pre-recorded videos, that will have a questionnaire at the end of each lesson and live interaction with the trainer.

Together, let's build the learner's psychological health and teach them the life skills necessary for the future. The pandemic has already taught us the importance of some skills like resilience, adaptability, managing anxiety, living in harmony with others, self-responsibility, empathy, pro-activity, regulating screen usage, etc.

CORE Topics for this year 2020-21

Thoughts and feelings connection- Everyone feels differently because they think differently

Knowing self- Accepting as human, no other labels are accurate

Flexibility and rigidity- physical and emotional.

Managing emotions. Anger, Depression, Anxiety.

Confidence

Consequential thinking- Thinking of consequences of action and inaction, short term, long term, reversible, irreversible, for self and others.

Proactivity - taking initiative.

Self-responsibility- Not blaming, or shifting the responsibility of actions and emotions.

Empathy- Understanding other's feelings and position

Gratitude- Being thankful to self, others, world

Adaptability- Adjusting to changes, challenges without getting frustrated.

Living together in harmony with others- Home, school, surroundings, new country

Screen time

Respect. Regard for people in authority.

Frustration tolerance- Tolerating frustrating situations, failures, resilience

Entitlement

Peer influence

Relationship with parents.

These skills are required in a variety of areas of life like academics, interpersonal relationships, a profession in the future, managing self eg. Exercise, screen usage, sleep, eating healthy, etc.

Method of delivery: Pre-recorded entertaining videos in the form of friends- family drama followed by an interactive discussion with a trainer. A mixture of topics from the list shall be portrayed informally, keeping the child’s attention and interest in mind. A short questionnaire at the end of each episode will ensure that the child takes away appropriate learning. They can ask questions at the end of the questionnaire which shall be answered by the trainer.

Platform- Google Classrooms of Centre Point schools. The videos will be relayed one time in their classroom. They are not available for downloading or viewing later. Hence the students shall be responsible for their attendance and attention. The links will appear in the classrooms of the students.

Duration- 40-45 minutes per episode including discussion and the video. The questionnaire will take about 5 more minutes to answer thus minimizing the additional screen time used by students.

There will be a total of 12 sessions, each delivered every week.

Approximately will end on September 25th.

Language of instruction: English, the videos are in Hindi.

Ages- 6-18 (Grade 1-12th.)
