4-Day Associate Fellowship in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behavior Therapy

For the first time ever in India, the Associate fellowship is launched and will be conducted by faculty from Albert Ellis Institute, New York and Dr. Shishir Palsapure.

PROGRAM

The Associate Fellowship Certificate Program is the highest level of external training after the Advanced Certificate. Practitioners will deepen their skills through individual supervision of their psychotherapy practice and participation in advanced seminars.

Special Topics Seminars include Working with Resistant Clients; RE & CBT with Personality Disorders; Treatment of Eating Disorders and Managing Addictions.

Participants will learn to:

  • Apply effective techniques for working with resistant clients

  • Describe RE & CBT’s theory of personality disorders

  • Apply effective techniques for working with eating disorder clients

  • Demonstrate intervention skills for clients with addictions


REQUIREMENTS

Pre-requisite: Primary and Advanced Certificate in RE & CBT; Five 20 minute recordings supervised by a Certified REBT supervisor prior to the 4-day practicum (Supervisor must inform Dr. Kristene Doyle at the Albert Ellis Institute prior to registering for the practicum that participant is eligible).

During the Practicum: Participants must bring 10 full-length (45 minutes) recordings to the practicum for supervision.

Following the Practicum: In the year following, participants must have 20 recordings (ten 45 minute and ten 20 minute recordings) supervised by at least three different certified supervisors. Participants should not submit all 20 recordings at one time. The idea is to receive supervisory feedback and build upon that feedback.

When all 20 recordings are completed, participants submit their 21st “Golden” recording, $250.00 US, and their application for the associate fellowship certificate to Dr. Kristene Doyle for review by a member of the International Training Standards and Policy Review Committee.

CERTIFICATE

Matriculants who successfully complete all program requirements will be eligible for Associate Fellowship membership in the Institute. Associate Fellows may also be invited to attend the Supervisory training.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to licensed or license-eligible psychologists and social workers, physicians, nurses, clergy, and holders of master’s degrees seeing clients in supervised settings.

Primary and Advanced Certificate in RE & CBT, and 5 supervised therapy recordings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is the difference between this training and the one offered in New York? Are they equivalent?

The course content, duration of training and supervision are exactly the same. The faculty from Albert Ellis Institute, Kristene Doyle PhD (Director of AEI) is coming down to train the participants. The CE points too are exactly the same, the certificate is also the same. Additional faculty will be different here- Dr. Shishir Palsapure.

2.*What are CE points?

Continuing Education points of APA and NBCC.  A continuing education unit (CEU) or continuing education credit (CEC) is a measure used in continuing education programs to assist the professional to maintain his or her license in their profession. These are currently useful in the USA, and not necessary in India to continue license to practise psychotherapy.

3. Can I attend the Associate Fellowship immediately after Advanced training?

You have to get 5 tapes supervised and 10 tapes ready for the Associate fellowship after the completion of Advanced Certificate. Besides, the Associate fellowship and the Advanced certificate programs run simultaneously.

4. Are there any discounts?

Yes, certainly. Only for psychologists over 100 years old. Valid proof of date of birth mandatory.

5. Am I eligible?

Please check the eligibility criteria in each section. If you are not in the criteria, you will have to apply for a paraprofessional certificate. For further doubts, you can write to ariana.ruiz@albertellis.org.

6. Can I practise RECBT after this training? Is this a license to practice CBT and REBT?

Certainly, you can practice CBT and REBT, you can call yourself RECBT therapist only after completion of Associate Fellowship. You have to check local laws in your country about practising psychotherapy, but generally, you can call yourself counsellor and still practise RECBT as a counsellor, without calling yourself a therapist in most places in India.

7. I am not a psychologist, can I still enrol?

Yes, you will have to apply for the paraprofessional certificate while filling up the form of Albert Ellis Institute. This is for the Primary and Advanced Certificate practica. For further queries, write to ariana.ruiz@albertellis.org

8. What are the inclusions and exclusions?

The inclusions are tuition, training, supervision, lunch, tea/coffee, cookies twice a day, training kit, postage if any. The exclusions are certificate processing fee (INR 3500). Other exclusions are travel, accommodation and other expenses incurred by the participant for the training.
